Malaysia Energy Commission’s Diamond Building, Putrajaya

This iconic building is the headquarters of Malaysia’s Energy Commission and is a showcase of sustainability in building design and construction. The passive-design, energy efficient structure uses mostly natural light and consumes about a third of the energy used by a conventional building of its size. The building earned Platinum Ratings under Malaysia’s Green Building Index (GBI) and Singapore’s Green Mark program, and was awarded the top prize in the prestigious ASEAN Energy Awards.

Able Energy provided site management and installation services to integrate 71.4 kWp of thin film solar panels onto the roof. The solar panels reduce the building’s energy consumption by 10%, and at the time was the largest single operational BIPV system in the country, as well as the first grid-connected installation with Malaysian-made solar modules.

Able Energy installed 56 solar panels on Bluwater Development’s waterproofed reinforced concrete roof. The mounting structure was thermo-glued to the roof, an innovative solution to ensure mounting stability and durability, and likely the first such solution in Malaysia.

AUO SunPower Factory, ‘Solar Valley’, Melaka

AUO Sunpower is a world class high-efficiency solar cell manufacturing facility. Their 108,000 sq m facility has been recognised by the International Energy Agency for its superior energy-efficient design. It is engineered with a variety of energy efficient features and increases efficiency whilst cutting energy costs.

Able Energy successfully designed and installed the solar panel system for the facility’s administration building. The 205kWP system is one of the largest PV rooftop installations in the country, with 660 solar modules. Thanks to our efficient mounting system from Germany, we were able to complete the project a month ahead of schedule – within 10 days – despite frequent interruptions from rain and thunderstorms.

We designed, delivered and installed a combined 1,500kWp system on the 28 carpark structures and other buildings within the facility, alongside 2 compact substations. The installation was completed in just 6 weeks.

This project is a showpiece for environmental and economic transformation. Previously a non-sanitary landfill, the 25 acre site was safely closed, then transformed into an income-generating solar farm. It is one of the largest ground mounted photovoltaic installations in Malaysia.

Able Energy was subcontracted for the installation of the modules, inverters, transformers and the electrical DC and AC cabling up to the substation.

Simosynergy is an established manufacturer of type tested medium voltage switchgear under the license of Siemens. We developed a standard design for the four roofs within this manufacturing facility. 546 pieces of mono crystalline solar PV modules were installed, as well as CT metering, and four inverters for a three-phase connection.

Able Energy designed, engineered and installed a 69kWp system for VisDynamics carpark roofing with seven inverters. Two carpark roofs are covered with 260 pieces of 265W mono crystalline solar PV modules.

Able Energy engineered and installed the 1MW system, which consists of 5 large roofs integrated with 4000 pieces of 250W solar PV modules. At the time of commissioning, Matahari Kencana was the first grid-connected installation designed with locally assembled solar inverters.
